WHY NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION (NGO)
Non-governmental organizations, or NGOs, they are generally defined as nonprofit entities independent of governmental influence (although they may receive government funding).
As one can tell from the basic definition above, the NGO label is given to organizations operating on an international level although some countries classify their own civil society groups as NGOs.
NGO activities include, but are not limited to, environmental, social, advocacy and human rights work. They can work to promote social or political change on a broad scale or very locally. NGOs play a critical part in developing society, improving communities, and promoting citizen participation.
Advantages of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)
Tax exemption is one of the significant benefits of Non-Governmental Organizations. Whether it’s Trust, Society, or Section 8 Company, every NGO is exempted from paying Income Tax.
INCOME TAX EXEMPTION
During the process of registration, companies need to pay the stamp duty as applicable. However, in the case of NGOs, these are exempted from any stamp duty during the registration process of the company.
NO STAMP DUTY PAYABLE
SEPARATE LEGAL ENTITY
Like other business entities, an NGO too has a separate legal entity from its members. It implies that the members are only responsible for the decision and action undertaken by them and not by the members.
It’s one of the greatest advantages of starting an NGO. The liabilities of the members are limited to their amount of shares only. It means that if the company incurs any loss, then the personal assets of the members won’t be at risk.
